The Lounge (Saloon)
Relax with a cuppa or maybe a glass of wine or two after a day of boating.
The Colleen Bawn is a beautifully crafted 57' Narrowboat, built to the highest standards. Built in 1999 for actor Timothy Spall and his family. It has travelled the length and breadth of the country giving hours of pleasure to his family, and over the last 10 years, our family.
It isn't your average hire boat.
The Colleen Bawn doesn't have the sparse, caravan type look we often see in bigger fleet hire boats. Instead you will enjoy a warm mahogony interior with lots of homely welcoming touches, making it the ideal boat for a holiday with a quality feel.
Sleep
The boat has 2 bedrooms (cabins), a double with a fixed double bed and a twin with 2 fixed single beds. It also benefits from an easily convertible sofa in the lounge giving a third sleeping area. All of these areas can be separated by sliding doors to offer privacy.
Cook
The kitchen (galley), is a typical narrowboat style, small and fully functional! It features a full size fridge and gas oven beneath bespoke stainless steel worktops. You will find all the cookware and crockery you need along with cutlery and glassware. For coffee lovers, we have several coffee brewing options, Lavazza pod machine and milk frother, with a few pods supplied, also a french press and stove top espresso. We also provide some basic essentials, condiments, oil, sugar etc.
There will be a small welcome pack with milk and tea.We also have a wine rack which we keep well stocked and operate 'mini-bar' style, so you never get caught short if no shops nearby!
There is a window and side hatch adjacent to the kitchen giving fresh air and lovely views while you prepare food and drink.
Refresh
The bathroom has a modern thermostatic shower, a basin and normal flush toilet. Any stories you may have heard about boat toilets don't apply on ours, there is a holding tank which we deal with, so you just treat it like home.
The shower stays at a consistent temperature making it safe for everyone.
Be warm
The boat benefits from two forms of heating. Central heating to radiators throughout, and a lovely Morso Squirrel log burner in the lounge. In hot weather you won't need the log burner but sometimes it's nice to pop the heating on in the evening if it gets a little cooler. Should you need it there are enough logs and kindling for a few fires.
You will have hot water the whole time.
Chill
The TV is equipped with Freeview channels, and also an Amazon Firestick loaded with Netflix, Disney+ and more.
There is Wifi on board so no need to worry about phone data dropouts or Hotspots.
There are USB 2 and USB C charging sockets throughout the boat, making phone and tablet charging a breeze. Just remember your cables!
