At Bridge 162. Walk up to the road and turn left, there are 2 pubs, this one and Hunters.
The Kings Head has a lovely large beer garden and climbing equipment to keep all entertained!
Hunters is popular for food and also has a nice beer garden.
(Also nearby is an Indian restarant 'Hunton Spice')
This is at Bridge 158, there are usually lots of mooring spots opposite the Ovaltine building.
Go up to the road and turn left on Water Lane/Church Lane, the road bends left, then right as it leads you up to the High Street.
Bridge 157 There are plenty of mooring spots north of the bridge.
Go straight up the road to the High St. Take Rectory Lane to the right and then straight up to Miller & Carter. We know what to expect at a M & C restaurant, this one is called 'Toovey's Mill' and is very popular with the locals.
The High St is nice as High Streets go, there are all manner of things including a fish & chip shop, a pizza place and an Indian.. KL Tandoori.
The Saracens Head is a tiny, quaint pub on the High Street serving craft beer and showing sport. A lovely old fashioned pub like we don't see too often.
At Lock 69. Mooring spots after the lock.
It Isn't particularly easy to spot from the canal. They have a children's play area, and they serve a Sunday roast. We weren't too sure about this one...
Lock 65 Lots of mooring options near the pub.
This is a lovely pub on the banks of the Canal, known for excellent pub food, including a Sunday roast, great ales and friendly service. It has great seating areas inside and outside and a log fire for when it's chilly. Step free access.
Opposite the pub, is Apsley Marina, a small, well kept CRT marina with a water point and rubbish bins which you can use.
There are also a variety of shops and restaurants, including a vegetarian Bistro and a nice Italian.
Bridge 150...
Bridge 150 There are moorings both sides of the bridge.
A lovely old pub a short walk across the cricket pitch from the canal. You'll also pass a nice little playground on the way.
The food is quite basic but nice, and includes pizza and a Sunday Roast. There is a rear garden and a few benches at the front.
The same mooring spot as the Steam Coach
This pub is just a bit further along the road, by the playground.
A Greene King family pub with a garden.
**It opens at 9am serving tea and coffee, breakfast and cakes!**
We didn't try this, but might be worth a try if you don't have the energy to prep brek and you're nearby!
*Also a village store and off license close by*
2/3 moorings spots alongside the pub, and more before lock 63
The Fishery is a lovely gastro pub with nice modern decor inside and lots of seating options outside by the canal.
Polite staff and good food.
It always feels nice mooring up here, popping in for a drink and returning to your 'home' outside!
This Harvester pub is next door to Hemel Hempstead train station and is just what you'd expect from a harvester.
A few minutes walk from the canal and useful for a food when you don't fancy cooking!
The Three Horseshoes is a traditional, 16th-century canalside pub with exposed beams, fireplaces and nook and cranny seating.
I lived next door to this pub for a few years in the marina and would often pop over for food, it's relatively expensive for a pub but very nice.
Lovely by a fire in colder weather.
