The Beauty of boating

Imagine being able to take your house and park it somewhere else..

Waking up and looking out of the window and seeing a different view to yesterday.. with swans.. ducks, or maybe a heron.

Coming back from the pub to somewhere you weren't the day before..

This is what life on a boat holiday is like.

I've had all of that with my family and can tell you, it's a wonderful feeling.

What is a lock? How does it work?

Ever wondered how locks work?

You'll need to know!

It's a very straightforward design which works as well now as it did when they were first introduced in the 1500's.

A canal boat holiday allows you to set your own pace. If you like the look of a particular spot, moor up and have a look around, there's no rush. Have a view of a championship golf course when you wake up.. why not!

It's a lovely thing to do with children. They'll be fascinated with locks, and how their home is moving up and down in them, sharing the boating responsibilities, and exploring new areas. It's a great way to spend time together, in these days of gadgets and phones.. it's nice to all pitch in with choosing mooring spots, negotiating bridges and locks and where to explore etc.

These are the kinds of memories that will be cherished forever.
